Nominations are invited from persons seeking election as members of Community Councils which remain unformed after the election held on 16 November 2011. The Community Councils have not re-formed are Ward 1: Lairg; Tongue; Ward 3: Bower; Ward 6: Gairloch; Ward 8: Fearn; Ward 11: Broadford and Strath; Dunvegan; Raasay; Sleat; Skeabost & District; Ward 15: Merkinch; Ward 19: East Nairnshire; Ward 20: Inverness South: Ward 21: Laggan Community Association; Ward 22: Nether Lochaber, Glencoe and Glen Etive.
The Elections will take place where the number of valid Nominations exceeds the membership number of the relevant Community Council.
Persons seeking election require to be entered in the current Electoral Register for the Community Council area, or if aged 16 or 17 years old, have completed a Voter Registration application.
Nomination forms and copies of the scheme for the establishment of Community Councils can be downloaded from the Current Documents Section on the right; obtained on request, by e-mail to elections@highland.gov.uk; in person from any Service Point, or from the Council’s Election Office (Tel 01463 702945).
Completed nomination forms must be submitted to the Election Office, Highland Council, Council Headquarters, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness IV3 5NX and must be received not later than 4.00 p.m. on Friday 9 December 2011.
The Election Office will accept e-mailed copies of the Form, so long as it has been correctly completed and contains the signature of the candidate and witness. The contact e-mail address is elections@highland.gov.uk
