The Crofting Commission Election 2012
The contested elections was conducted by Postal Ballot, under the Alternative Vote system. The returned ballot papers were counted electronically in the Town House, Inverness on Friday 16 March 2012.

The Commission electoral area is divided into 6 constituencies, comprising the areas shown below (and described in the Schedule to the Regulations) and each such constituency must return one member only.
The Constituencies
- Shetland - 4 candidates
- Orkney and Caithness - uncontested election
- East Highlands (East Sutherland, Easter Ross, East Inverness and Moray) - 4 candidates
- Western Isles - 5 Candidates
- West Highlands (West Sutherland, Wester Ross, Skye and Lochalsh) - 9 candidates
- South West Highlands (Lochaber, Argyll and Bute, Arran and Cumbrae, Small Isles) - 5 candidates
