Care at Home in the Highlands

Care at Home in The Highlands

Highland Council and other Care at Home services have long been regarded as the key factor in helping someone to stay at home for as long as they wish to rather than being admitted to a Care Home or indeed a hospital.

In order to do this we need to able to provide safe and reliable care to people at the times they need it. This means building up services to be able to offer more support at times most important to someone’s personal care needs, particularly in the morning, later in the evening, at critical times during the day and perhaps overnight. Here in Highland we are particularly committed to this philosophy and are working hard to recruit staff to be able to do this.

In order to achieve our desired aims, the Care at Home Service operated by Highland Council is changing - for the better – following agreement by our local Councillors in 2007 we are able to offer great new terms and conditions for Home Care staff. We will have three new grades of staff, Care at Home Assistants, Care at Home Workers and Care at Home Team Leaders. Staff will work in small tight knit groups under the guidance of a Team Leader and this new structure gives a real opportunity for people looking for progression within a caring career from the very start.

Map with place namesTeam Leaders are a key part of our new arrangements and provide opportunities for direct care as well as responsibilities for supporting and guiding a group of carers in a location. We are offering training to all staff and support to achieve vocational qualifications at various levels depending on your role. In addition we will be looking to employ staff on fixed hours and shifts each week making it much easier to manage time off and work together as a team. And, as if that wasn’t enough we are offering good rates of pay starting at around £6.60 and rising to £9.00 per hour with enhancements for evenings and weekends.

You will find job descriptions below and we will be recruiting staff right across Highland so if you are interested or know someone who might be give me a call on 01463 703465:
