Budget Strategy, Policy & Taxation

A team in the Finance Service headquarters provides financial guidance and support to the Council in the development of corporate budget strategies and financial policies.  This includes forward financial planning for Revenue and Capital spending, and the co-ordination of budget preparation.

A Revenue Budget Brief booklet is prepared by the team, giving a summary of the Council's income and expenditure for the coming financial year broken down by Service, together with Facts and Figures about the Council. 

A Capital Budget book is also prepared giving details of the Council's agreed capital investment programme, and both publications are available by clicking under the 'Current Documents' section.

The team provides advice to the Council on VAT and general taxation matters, completes the necessary taxation returns, and ensures that the relevant statutory duties are fulfilled.
