Recruitment of new Chief Executive (08/02/07)

The Highland Council agreed today (Thursday) to proceed immediately with the recruitment of a new Chief Executive, following the announcement that Arthur McCourt will retire in July of this year.

At a special meeting in Inverness, the Council agreed the post will be advertised from 23 February; the closing date for applications will be 16 March and interviews by the full council will take place on 4 April.

Mr McCourt has been Chief Executive of the Council since June 1995 and was awarded a CBE for his services to local government in 2004.
