Provost Jimmy Gray, Chairman of The Highland Council’s Inverness City Committee said: “I am delighted that we will be running public tours of Inverness Town House, which is a jewel in the crown of our city’s history. There are some great stories to be told and some magnificent works of art and artefacts within the building that can fascinate even those who work there on a daily basis. I am sure that the tours will prove a great success not just with visitors to Inverness but also with those who live here.”
Members also approved funding of up to £2,000 from the Inverness Common Good Fund to underwrite any potential financial shortfall arising from the running of a programme of tours.
The tours will last approximately one hour and cost adults £4.50 and concessions £3.00, Under 16's free.
Bookings will be made through the neighbouring VisitScotland Information Centre. Each tour will commence at the Town House public entrance on Castle Street before visiting key areas of the building and exiting by the main door. The tours will cover external features of the Town House and neighbouring buildings before finishing at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery.
