Stephen’s Street rejuvenation, Inverness (12/04/10)
The Highland Council has awarded a contract to M M Miller (Wick) Ltd. to undertake the last phase of the Inverness City Streetscape Project at Stephen’s Street in the Crown district of the city.
Works, costing £147,000, will commence on Monday 10th May 2010 and continue for an estimated 15 weeks. They will involve new paving, kerbing and surfacing and replacement of street furniture. The Council and the contractor will make every effort to minimise any inconvenience to residents in the area while the works are being carried out. Stephen’s Street will be open to traffic during the works. However, motorists are asked to avoid this location if at all possible.
The Council is making arrangements for a temporary suspension of the public car parking at Stephen’s Street for the period of the works with alternative arrangements being made for the permit holders car parking.
Representatives from the Council and the contractor will shortly commence a series of visits to properties that are likely to be affected by the works to explain the details of what is being carried out and find out and resolve any concerns that residents may have that may result from the works.
The Council would like to request the cooperation and assistance of the public during the works and give an assurance that every effort will be made to limit any inconvenience.
