Kinmylies Primary School follow-through inspection report (08/02/11)
The HMIe follow-through inspection report for Kinmylies Primary School in Inverness recognises that there is positive evidence of improvement in the school since the inspection last year. Strengths identified in the report which is published today (8 February 2011) highlight the commitment of staff to school improvement; the recent approaches to improve writing and improvements to leadership of learning across the school.
The inspection reported that most children attain appropriate levels in reading and mathematics. The children are keen to learn and have greater confidence in using ICT and have good opportunities to work together in organising eco and health promotion activities.
The report also identified a need to further develop the curriculum in line with Curriculum for Excellence, to show a sustained improvement in attainment and develop further approaches in seeking and acting upon the views of parents and children. There will be another follow-through inspection within one year of the report.
Rachel Mohin, Head Teacher said: “The report has clearly recognised the commitment and hard work of the staff to the improvement agenda and their contribution to curriculum development since the initial inspection. With continuing support from our parents, staff and pupils at Kinmylies Primary will be working hard to address the remaining areas for improvement identified in this follow-through report.”
