Pupils thanked for their citizenship efforts (17/06/11)
A presentation was made today (Friday 17 June) at Invergordon Academy on Friday to the 150 P7 and S1 pupils who took part in a two day citizenship event held recently in the town.
Pupils from Newmore, Park, South Lodge and Milton Primary Schools as well as Invergordon Academy spent time tidying gardens for the elderly, picking up litter, weeding and planting and sprucing up the area around the Polish Memorial and Natal gardens. Pupils also visited local shops and businesses to find out more about the importance of business and retail in Invergordon. They also interviewed residents at Mull Hall about their experiences and the history of the town.
Albyn housing, supporting local businesses, local councillors and participating residents all come along to the presentation to help show their thanks for the efforts made by the pupils.
The Citizenship days were organised and supported by ELC (Enterprise Learning Community Group), Highland Council, Keep Scotland Beautiful, head teachers and school volunteers from each of the local schools.
