Hazardous trees to be felled in Strathpeffer (10/05/11)
A recent professional tree survey in Strathpeffer Spa Gardens has identified three large beech trees which require to be felled due to a fungal infection, Kretzschmaria.duesta, which is associated with fracture of the main tree trunk.
The Highland Council, who owns and manages the gardens, have made arrangements for a contractor to carry out the removal of the three trees due to concerns on public safety.
Felling is due to start on Tuesday 17th May and the gardens will be closed for approximately one week to allow safe working. Access to the Spa Pavilion will not be affected.
Careful consideration will be given to replacement planting, which will be agreed in consultation with Historic Scotland and the Community Council in order that the character of the gardens is perpetuated into the future.
