Appointment of High Life Highland Director (12/09/11)
Councillor Thomas Prag, Inverness South, has been elected as a Director of the Board of High Life Highland, the new arms length company which will deliver community learning and leisure services on behalf of the Council from 1 October.
Councillor Prag replaces Councillor David Fallows, Badenoch and Strathspey, who resigned his membership due to a conflict of interest with his role as Chairman of the Council's Audit and Standards Committee.
Other Councillors serving on the Board are Peter Corbett, Inverness Central, Jaci Douglas, Badenoch and Strathspey, and Drew Millar, Skye.
Councillor Prag said: “I am looking forward to helping get Highland Highlife up and running. I have always been excited by the potential to bring new thinking and new business into some of our terrific facilities around the Highlands. I am very impressed by the range of skills and expertise already on the board. It should be a stimulating organisation to be part of.”
The Board also has eight non-Councillor Directors.
High Life Highland (HLH) begins delivering Community Learning and Leisure activity for the Council from 1 October, having just received its charitable status.
As all the current staff involved in this work are transferring to HLH, services to the public will continue without a break and as normal from the beginning of October.
