Personnel Services

The Council is the largest employer in the Highlands. Our staff are our greatest asset and we are committed to developing and supporting them in delivering high quality services to the Highland community. Personnel staff support the Council’s strategic aims and service needs through innovative personnel solutions and by facilitating the effective management of staff within a framework of fair and transparent employment practices, policies and strategies.

Policies and procedures are in place to ensure that staff are well trained and developed as well as fairly recruited and managed. We play a leading role in developing and implementing the full range of conditions of service for Council employees. We also provide comprehensive advice and support in relation to personnel issues and administration to enable Council Services to implement policies and procedures in accordance with professional best practice.

Personnel staff also help to support improvements to the Council’s Service Delivery and performance through our Organisational Development (OD) Team who offer an internal Consultancy Service to managers, helping them to manage change effectively.
