Listed below is the action required and the outcomes resulting from discussion at the Eilean a’ Cheò Ward Forum meeting on 16th November 2009 held at Tigh Na Sgire, Portree.
1. WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION
1.1 Councillor Fraser welcomed everyone to the Ward Forum Meeting and introduced the Councillors and speakers.
2. ACTION NOTE
2.1 The action note from the meeting of 30th August 2010 was approved.
3. HIGHLAND WIDE DEVELOPMNET PLAN
It was noted that all Skye Community Councils responded to the consultation and a co-ordinated response on behalf of Skye was also submitted.
The 3rd December is the deadline for formal objections.
There will be a public drop in session on 1st November at the Portree Community Centre.
In response to a question about wildlife mitigation. Tim Stott explained that wild life habitat protection is being built in to the planning process.
4. COMMUNITY COUNCIL BROADBAND PROJECT
Robert Muir gave a brief update on the development of super fast broadband to larger settlements in rural areas, one of which could be Portree.
The item relating to a proposal for a community council broadband project was deferred. More information is to be sought.
5. SKYE ASSOCIATION FOR COMMUNITY COUNCILS
Following a short discussion it was agreed that JL would co-ordinate a separate meeting to look at this issue in more detail.
6. REQUESTS FOR REPRESENTATIVES FOR NHS GROUPS
Alison Phimister has requested representatives from Community Councils on Skye to serve on the Skye Salaried Practices Working Group and the HEI working group.
The relevant community councils have been contacted in respect of the Salaried Practice group. A representative for the HEI group would be nominated once the Skye Community Council Association has been formally set up.
7. WARD DISCRETIONARY BUDGET
Update on current position noted.
8. SCHEDULE OF MEETINGS AND TOPICS FOR 2011
Schedule noted
Request fro SNH to attend a forum in 2011 to give overview of the work they do.
9. A.O.B
Mike Taylor brought up the issue of Council ownership of the gravel area in Kyleakin and the possibility of transfer to community management or ownership. It was acknowledged that there had been difficulties in terms of identifying a council service but this has been progressed. JL to follow up.
