Informal List of Archaeological Contractors and Consultants
The following is an informal list of archaeological contractors and consultants who undertake work in the Highland area. These are presented in alphabetical order.
Note to Users:
Please note that Highland Council does not maintain a list of 'approved' archaeological contractors. Archaeologists have been included in this list at their own request. The list is not exhaustive and there may be other contractors active in the area and any party seeking out services of any such contractors should bear this fact in mind. Information on professionally qualified consultants and contractors can be obtained from the Institute of Field Archaeologists (IFA) and a list of IFA Registered Archaeological Organisations is available at www.archaeologists.net.
This list of contractors is supplied by Highland Council without comment as to the competence or availability of the services of any or all of the firms, companies or individuals listed. It is assumed that their services are of acceptable standard, but the Council makes no representation to that effect and the Council will reject all reports that are unsuitable for the Council's purposes, notwithstanding that they are provided by archaeologists on the list. The Council will accept no responsibility under any circumstances in the event that any party engages the services of anyone in the aforementioned list and thereafter suffers loss or damage or inconvenience as a result of faulty workmanship or any other cause.
Those commissioning archaeological work are urged to satisfy themselves that the organisation or individual approached:
- has the necessary experience and understanding to satisfy HCAU minimum standards.
- can provide personnel with the appropriate skills and qualifications for the task.
- can meet the required timetable.
- has a suitable infrastructure for, and track record of, undertaking work of a similar scale.
