The full collections of the Highland Historic Environment Record are now available online for consultation. In addition, we recognise that professional users often prefer data in a form they can interrogate and manipulate. We are able to provide extracts of raw HER data upon request and to carry out any more complex HER searches where required. HER data can be supplied in the following forms:
• GIS export (ESRI shapefile) PLUS
• Database export (XML (preferred) or CSV) OR Full records printout (PDF)
Search requests should ideally specify which data format(s) are required and we can provide advice on this where necessary.
A charge may be made if you are a consultant, or if information /advice is required regarding the management of sites. Archaeological information may be supplied without charge to students and members of the public, provided that the requests are minor in nature. Information may also be supplied without charge should the resulting research provide updated information for the HER.
Our charge for staff time is £62 plus VAT per hour/part hour. Prices are valid from 1st April 2011. Payment should be made on receipt of an invoice from the Highland Council.

Users of the HER are still welcome to visit the office to discuss developments and/or seek professional advice. The HER may be accessed from our office, however we regret that we are unable to offer detailed help with interrogating the master HER database and GIS.
