The Highland Historic Environment Record (HER) is now available online. Features include a live, interactive and searchable database, with a searchable mapping facility.
The Historic Environment Team compiles and maintains the Highland Historic Environment Record (HER) containing information on all recorded cultural heritage sites in the highland area. The complete Highland Historic Environment Record is available online at http://her.highland.gov.uk . The online HER is refreshed fortnightly and the following information is available:
- Full site information with linked documents and images. Includes the entire contents of the paper records, subject to data protection.
- Records of fieldwork undertaken since 2000 with links to digital versions of the reports.
- Information and guidance for developers and archaeological contractors.
The website offers the following functionality:
- Interactive map, searchable by grid reference with multiple selection tool
- Radius search tool
- Advanced searching by record ID (Highland HER number, old SMR number or NMRS number), last edit date, location, site/find type, period, keyword, or any combination of these.
There is also a range of other resources available and opportunities for users to contribute and submit feedback.
