Flooding River Ness Flooding - Inverness

Information on flooding of the River Ness in Inverness:

Alleviation

The Highland Council have appointed Mott Macdonald to study past flood events, model the behaviour of the river, and develop a flood alleviation scheme to protect Inverness from flooding of the River Ness.  This scheme has to be both technically feasible and economically viable.

The need for a flood alleviation scheme to protect Inverness from flooding of the River Ness was highlighted by a high level (pre-feasibility) study, undertaken by Mott MacDonald in 2005. This identified the extent of the flooding problem.

The only viable option identified to protect Inverness from both tidal and fluvial flooding was some form of riverbank defence.
