On the 26th October 2006 the eastern side of the Highlands experienced very severe weather conditions including prolonged rain and high winds. The Scottish Environment Protection Agency has advised that flows in many of the rivers were the highest on record.
There were many occurrences of urban flooding throughout the area including those in Evanton, Golspie and Dingwall. Other incidents included landslides and structural damage to the road network.
