Coastal Planning

  • Aquaculture Framework Plans - provide local planning guidance for aquaculture in selected areas of Highland's west and north coasts. The second generation of framework plans, which started to appear in 2001, has recently seen the addition of new plans for Loch Nevis and Loch Torridon. A further plan for the area between Enard Bay and Loch Laxford/ Loch Dughaill is currently in preparation. 
  • Coastal Development Strategy - a strategic planning framework for the coast and nearshore area of the Highland region which takes account of national policy guidance and the need for more detailed plan coverage in appropriate areas. It includes an appraisal of the key issues and opportunities by sector and provides sub-regional overviews and strategic priorities for the North, East and West coasts. Also includes a classification of the Highland coast.
  • Estuary Management Strategies
  • Integrated Coastal Zone Management - integrated coastal plans provide multi-sectoral guidance for the Two Brooms area of Wester Ross, and the cross-border areas of the Sound of Mull and Loch Etive.
