Managing Waste in New Developments: Interim Supplementary Guidance

Targets set by the EU Landfill Directive and Scottish Planning Policy require all Local Authorities to move away from the practice of landfilling waste and recognise the potential of waste as a resource. The Council have prepared this guidance to enable developers to incorporate waste management requirements at the initial design stage of any proposed development, in the same way other essential services are considered.

A public consultation was carried out in late 2010 and, following the integration of the feedback we receieved, the document was adopted as interim supplementary guidance to be used as a material consideration in the determination of planning applications by the Highland Council.

Strategic Environmental Assessment
