The Highland Development Plan Scheme has 3 purposes:
- to explain what future local development plans for Highland will contain;
- when they are likely to be produced;
- and how individuals, communities and organisations can be involved in making these plans.
The scheme will be updated annually, giving regular information on the progress and contents of local development plans in Highland. Feedback is invited, particularly on the suggested methods for involving people in local development plans, and feedback forms can be found following the links below.
‘Keep us in the picture’ – Competition
We invited young people under the age of 25 to send us photographs of what they think of their community’s environment, and aspirations they have for communities in the future.
Over 100 photographs were entered by young people across Highland. The competition was judged by Highland Youth Voice Xec and they chose the 8 winners out of many great entries.
Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to everyone who took part.
To view the winning photographs, please click the thumbnails or the links below (all are in jpeg format):

- Category 1 - what you like about your community, about the land and buildings (this can be anywhere - near your home, school, where you work or play in your part of the Highlands):
- Category 2 - what you’re not so keen on in your community (for example, lack of pavements and bike paths, or the scruffy bits in the park):
- Category 3 - what could be improved about some places (buildings) and spaces (land) in your community:
- Category 4 - what would be really fun to have where you live or in the Highlands. You may have seen a place or building or facility that was very inspiring whilst visiting somewhere else, either in Scotland, the UK or further away still:
