Houses in Multiple Occupation - Draft Supplementary Planning Guidance

The Council have produced draft supplementary planning guidance: Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO). The document sets out a draft Council policy to prevent an excessive concentration of HMOs within areas of the Highlands and the guidance aims to promote high quality houses in multiple occupation.

The guidance recognises the importance of this type of accommodation to people living, working and studying in the Highlands who can not necessarily afford to buy their own home or rent as an individual. The documents can be viewed via the links below:

Strategic Environmental Assessment

The Council also carried out a Strategic Environmental Assessment Screening exercise in accordance with the Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005. The Supplementary Planning Guidance: Houses in Multiple Occupation does not require a Strategic Environmental Assessment.
