The Inverness Local Plan is a statutory document prepared by The Highland Council which guides decisions on planning applications in the Inverness Area.

The Inverness Local Plan was adopted in March 2006.

• Existing Local Plan - adopted in March 2006;
• Public Local Inquiry - concluded in June 2004
• Drumnadrochit Workshops - a vision of the future of Drumnadrochit.
• Development Briefs and Framework Plans - non-statutory documents for specific sites, providing information and guidance to potential developers;
• Development Plan Policy Guidance - provide more detailed guidance for Local Plans, development control, developers and the public on the interpretation of specific policies contained in the Highland Structure Plan.
• Houses in Multiple Occupation  - Draft Supplementary Planning Guidance
• Open Space Supplementary Planning Guidance - provides guidance on both the design and provision of greenspace, sport and recreation facilities throughout the Highlands.
