The Council has published the Sutherland Local Plan - Deposit Draft (November 2008) and Revised Environmental Report. This follows Committee consideration of comments and representations on earlier drafts of the documents. The deadline for submission of respresentations and comments on the latest versions is Friday 23 January 2009.
- West Highland & Islands Local Plan
The Council re-published the Draft Local Plan as the Pre-Deposit Draft West Highland & Islands Local Plan 2008, together with Augmented Environmental Report in May 2008. This was to allow an early and effective opportunity for the public and in turn the Council to consider the environmental effects of the Plan before key Council decisions on its content are finalised. Representations lodged during Winter 2007-08 on an earlier draft of the Plan have been carried forward. Consultation ended on 27 June 2008.
A report on issues raised through consultation was considered by Committee in September 2008. Committee agreed to make some changes to the Plan. The revised Local Plan will be published as a new 'Deposit Draft' in December 2008, accompanied by a revised Environmental Report, with opportunity for representations to be made.
- Cairngorms National Park Local Plan
The Cairngorms National Park Authority is preparing a new Local Plan which will replace the Badenoch and Strathspey Local Plan when adopted.

Consultation documents Drumnadrochit Futures and the Allanmore-Pitkerrald Draft Development Brief have been published and the deadline for comments was Friday 15 August 2008. We intend to report on the responses to consultations to Committee in November 2008.
Consultation on a review of the Affordable Housing DPPG ran from 3rd March 2008 to 25th April 2008. The results were reported to the Council's Planning Environment & Development Committee in August 2008, and proposed changes to the guidance were approved.
Draft Supplementary Guidance on Houses in Multiple Occupation was produced by the Council in August 2008. More information can be found at Houses in Multiple Occupation - Draft Supplementary Guidance.
Kit Campbell Associates have been appointed by the Highland Council to produce Supplementary Guidance on Greenspace, Sport and Recreation provision. The document is currently being drafted and, subject to Committee approval, will be going for public consultation in late 2008.
The Highland Renewable Energy Strategy was formally approved at the Council meeting held on 4 May 2006. Work has now begun on a review of the Spatial Planning Framework for onshore wind energy development.

The Council is currently working on guidance for developer contributions, more information will be available in due course.
