Representations and Objections

The Council is keen to encourage public involvement at all stages of the Local Plan. A Consultative Draft Plan is intended to be subject to wide public consultation and debate before the Council commits itself to specific policies and proposals. At this stage, representations are invited on the contents of the Plan, normally for a minimum period of six weeks. These are carefully considered by the Council before the Plan is finalised and a Deposit Draft published for further consultation.

Representations should be made in writing to:

Director of Planning and Development
The Highland Council
Glenurquhart Road
Inverness
IV3 5NX
Email: planning@highland.gov.uk

When the Deposit Draft version of the Plan is published, a period of six weeks is given for objections to be lodged with the Council. An objection to a Local Plan must be made in writing to the above address stating:

  • the precise matters to which the objection relates;
  • the grounds on which the objection is made;
  • the name and address of the objector and the agent, where applicable.

It should be noted that no objection can be treated as confidential.
