Sandown Development Brief

The Council has recently prepared a development brief for Sandown, a 25 hectare site located to the west of Nairn.

The first stage in the process was a design charrette held between 31st January and 2nd February 2012 that sought local views on how the site should be developed. The event was faciliated by Ironside Farrar who produced the below concept masterplan based on the discussion throughout the event:

The outputs of the charrette were then reported to the Nairn Ward Forum on 29th February 2012 which included a further public exhibition and debate. Following on from this the Council has produced a development brief for the site which was approved at Planning, Environment and Development Committee on 14th March 2012. The brief, and accompanying Committee Report, can be viewed below:

Strategic Environmental Assessment

In accordance with the Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005, a Screening Report was undertaken to assess whether the brief would require a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA). This determined that, as the brief is not likely to have significant environmental effects, an SEA will not be required. The determination notice can be viewed below:

The responses received from each of the SEA Consultation Authorities, and Scottish Government, can also be viewed below:
