The Highland Council adopted the Wester Ross Local Plan on 29th June 2006. The Local Plan covers the area from Achiltibuie in the north to Lochcarron in the south and sets in place the land use planning framework for the area for the next five years.

• Development Plan Policy Guidance - provide more detailed guidance for Local Plans, development control, developers and the public on the interpretation of specific policies contained in the Highland Structure Plan. 
• Houses in Multiple Occupation  - Draft Supplementary Planning Guidance
• Open Space Supplementary Planning Guidance - provides guidance on both the design and provision of greenspace, sport and recreation facilities throughout the Highlands.

The Adopted Plan is also now placed on public deposit at the following places:

• The Area Planning and Building Control Office, Achany Road, Dingwall;
• The Council Service Points in Gairloch, Ullapool and Lochcarron;
• The Libraries at Achiltibuie, Applecross, Gairloch, Lochcarron, Ullapool and the Mobile Library Service;
• Sub- or community post offices at Achiltibuie, Applecross, Aultbea, Dundonnell, Gairloch, Inverasdale, Kinlochewe, Laide, Lochcarron, Poolewe, Strathcarron, Strath, Ullapool; and
• The Planning and Development Service Headquarters, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness.

The Council has also launched an interactive version of the Local Plan. This on-line version of the Plan allows you to find out what the Local Plan says about any location in Wester Ross at the touch of a button. It will show you a map of the area you are interested in, as well as all the Local Plan policies that apply.
