This draft document contains updated guidelines for the design and construction of roads and other transport infrastructure required in connection with new development within the Highland Council area. It includes guidance on the information required to satisfy the transport aspects of planning applications with particular regard to standards for safety, provision for pedestrians, cyclists, public transport, service and private vehicles and parking standards.
It also gives guidance on the procedures, design and construction standards to be followed for roads and other transport infrastructure which is to be adopted by the Council. The guidelines are applicable for the full range of developments normally undertaken and are applicable for both large scale development requiring new road networks and for modifications to existing roads infrastructure.
The guidelines are currently in draft form and comments from developers and others using the document are welcomed. It is intended that when adopted in a final form it will replace the existing ‘Roads Guidelines for New Developments’.
