Roundabout Sponsorship

Roundabout sponsorship is an opportunity not only to promote your business in a cost effective way but also to enhance the whole area, helping to make Inverness a greener place.

When considering the proposal to allow sponsorship on roundabouts careful consideration was given to road safety, budget, improved amenity and the nature of the sponsor’s business.

How to sponsor a roundabout;

The sponsoring of roundabouts is a bidding process, as different locations have different commercial value in terms of advertising.  Bids are invited for sponsoring roundabouts based on the reserve prices to cover the costs of annual maintenance, and administration costs.

Costs to sponsor a roundabout;

The roundabouts available to be sponsored are listed below in order of most commercial value and the reserve sponsorship costs (exclusive of VAT) per annum;

Please click on the links to see images of these roundabouts.

Sponsorship reserve costs are exclusive of sponsorship signage costs, this will be determined based on amount of signs, size, colour and design of signs individual to sponsors.  Consultation with Planning and Development will be carried out for each

The reserve sponsorship costs will increase annually based on the rate of inflation.

Sponsors will be permitted to introduce new planting or enhanced maintenance regimes (provided they pay any additional costs). New planting schemes will be subject to approval by the City of Inverness Committee or local Ward Members.

Length of sponsorship;

Sponsoring agreements will be for a minimum of 3 years, and a maximum of 5 years, with annual payments made in advance.

Sponsoring Agreements will contain break clauses in the event of a sponsor failing to make the appropriate payments.

Benefits of sponsorship;

  • Seen by thousands of motorists and pedestrians on a daily basis
  • Seen 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
  • Building your brand or image in your local community
  • Exclusivity with only one sponsor per site
  • Raising the profile of a product or service
  • Conveying a positive image to all those passing
  • Being involved in enhancements within your area
  • Shoppers, workforce and visitors will become more aware of your business
  • Promote a corporate image by showing visible support to a Highland Council initiative

Details of sponsorship signage;

The signs advertising the sponsor must be in keeping with the area and of a design, colour, and layout, which does not cause a distraction to motorists.

The sponsors will have the opportunity to place their business name and/or logo on the signage with the text ‘This roundabout is sponsored by…..’

The layout of the Sponsor’s sign will be approved by the City of Inverness Committee or the local Ward Members.

The Gaelic Plan does not cover sponsorship signing, however it does state that the Council should use its influence on other organisations and agencies in pursuit of the aims of the Plan, and sponsors will be encouraged to consider the use of bilingual signs, however under the current Gaelic Plan we cannot make bilingual signs a requirement for sponsors.

Any damaged/missing sponsorship signage will be repaired/replaced and the charge met by the sponsor and where appropriate (if signs have not been on a display for a significant amount of time) the sponsorship contract period can be extended by the length of time the signage was not on display.
