Over the past year the following travel planning projects have taken place within Highland Council:
- Emission reduction targets for business travel;
- Travel budget cuts for all Services;
- Travel desk developed to book all corporate travel;
- Travel Plans for 26 Highland Council sites;
- Reduce perceived need to travel for business;
- Increase email/phone/video & tele-conferencing;
- Increase use of active travel;
- Active travel infrastructure developed at several sites;
- Cycle Friendly Employer Awards gained for 6 Council sites;
- An increase in the passenger and cycling rates for staff;
- Hire car policy adaptations are proposed to ensure cars hired are low emissions;
- Promote car sharing;
- Increase use of public transport;
- Accessible information on public transport routes, times and fares;
- Survey Highland Council staff on travel;
- Work with and advise external partners on green travel planning;
- Work within the Highland Council Corporate Improvement Programme – Transport Project and Mobile & Flexi working project;
- Dingwall & Seaforth Transport Forum to address local travel issues.
