Fairtrade
The Highland Council is supporting the campaign for Highland to become a Fairtrade zone
Within Highland, there is strong support for Fairtrade with a number of communities and organisations having obtained Fairtrade status
In addition the Highland Council has been committed to using Fairtrade tea and coffee for all its meetings for a number of years. However we want to do more and this is why the Council agreed to support the objective of securing Fairtrade zone status for the entire Highland area.
To achieve this we need your help.
We need to have the widest possible support from communities, groups, organisations and companies in order to receive Fairtrade zone status for Highland. This is why we are setting up a Fairtrade directory which will detail Fairtrade activity throughout the Highlands.
To assist in gathering this information we have published and widely distributed a leaflet asking any group, organisation and business no matter how big or small to let us know of their Fairtrade activity
So please let us know:
- of any local Fairtrade groups in your community
- if your company or workplace use Fairtrade products
- about retail outlets that stock Fairtrade products in the Highlands
- if your school is a Fairtrade School
