Green Ambassadors

The Highland Council has staff volunteer "Green Ambassadors" in each of its Services in a move to raise awareness of important environmental issues.  These staff champion steps to cut down on energy usage, making more sustainable travel choices and encouraging the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle message to all staff and members.  It is widely believed that behavioural change can account for as much as 20% in emissions savings.

 

Renewable Energy Installations

To further increase environmental performance the council is installing renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency measures. To date over 14,000Kw of renewables have been installed on Council sites.

 

Green Travel

The Highland Council is committed to encouraging staff and the wider public to consider sustainable travel. A travel hierarchy document has been developed which helps individuals consider whether they need to travel and if so by what means.
