Waste Management

The efficient management of solid waste is a complex and expensive infrastructure issue particularly given Highland Council’s topographical and demographical make-up.

The Council is responsible for the collection of all household waste and also delivers a collection service to a number of commercial premises.

In the year 2006/07 there was a marked improvement in the recycling rate to around 26%. A total of 163,742Tonnes of municipal waste were collected out of which 42,661Tonnes were recycled.

Please see under 'Current Documents' for our 2006 - 2007 Annual Waste Data Report giving details of all our waste activities over this period.
