Your wheeled bin will be collected on a weekly basis. Please contact your local office for the day of collection. Changes to your collection day will usually only occur at Christmas, any changes will be advertised.
One 240 litre wheeled bin per household, up to and including five persons, will be collected.
All refuse must be contained within the bin and the lid must be closed. Any refuse placed at the side of the bin will not be collected. If your bin is full hold back on non-perishable items until the following week or separate your waste and use the Council's recycling facilities.
On the day of collection the wheeled bin should be placed at the kerbside before 0700 am. It is helpful if it is positioned so that the handles are toward the street.
After the bin is emptied, it is the householder's responsibility to ensure they return of the bin to their property. The exceptions are those assisted collections, where the bin is collected from the back of the premises and returned there by the loaders after emptying.
It is important that no heavy items such as soil and rubble are put into the wheeled bin as this poses a potential safety risk from the bin falling from the vehicle's lifting gear during emptying. If at any time our operatives consider the bin to be overloaded a sticker will be placed on the lid with appropriate instructions.
Although the wheeled bin is made of the highest quality plastic, hot ashes or corrosive substances should not be placed in the bin for safety reasons.
Assisted lift
An assisted lift can be arranged if you cannot manouvre your bin because of age or infirmity and there is no one else available to help you. Please contact your local TECS office for more detail.
