Armistice 100: Return to Light Procession

A Highland-wide commemorative event to mark the centenary of the First World War Armistice

An opportunity for everyone in Highland to come together to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War by joining a candle procession from Inverness Cathedral to the Old High Church and to attend a special commemorative Service.

Armistice 100: The Battle's O'er

Pipers are invited to come together to play a special tune to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War.

The Battle’s O’er is a nationwide tribute and it is hoped that pipers from across the Highlands will mark this special centenary by playing this well known tune at the dawn of the day to coincide with the signing of the Armistuce Agreement 100 years ago. Tea, coffee and breakfast rolls will be provided for pipers coming to Inverness Castle Esplanade. Locations across Highland will be publicised closer to the time. All pipers are of course welcome to choose their own special place of rememberance if they wish to play alone.

Royal British Legion parade from Ness Bridge to Cavell Gardens followed by a commemorative ceremony at the memorial gardens. The public are very welcome to join all or any part of the event.
