Low Route between Invermoriston & Drumnadrochit - Closed from November 10th for a couple of months

Published: Tuesday, 15 April 2025

Diversion details

The low route between Invermoriston & Drumnadrochit will be closed for a couple of months from the 10th of November 2025. Users will have to follow the high route for this section of the route.

  • These works will begin, and the low route closed, from the 10th of November 2025. The closure is expected to last 4-5 months but we will update this notice with more accurate information when appropriate.
  • Essential harvesting work will be taking place which is why this part of the low route won't be accessible during this time.
  • The harvesting work is only happening in one small area on the hill just north of Invermoriston so most of the low route path will still be usable, just not as a through route. It can still be followed as an "out and back" trip, or users can connect to/from the high/low route by using the vehicle track which runs between the two paths, half way along the section. (See map for details).
  • The high route diversion is 1km (0.6 miles) shorter than the low route counterpart and doesn't actually add much extra elevation at all, although some parts are quite a bit steeper and less easy to travel by bike.
  • We apologise for any inconvenience this causes. If you have any queries about the works or how they affect the route please feel free to email us at: GreatGlenWayRangers@highland.gov.uk
