Hate Crime figures in Scotland 2016/17

COPFS annual report on Hate crime in Scotland shows a 10% decrease in racial hate crime charges brought by police.

Figures from the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service annual report on Hate Crime in Scotland 2016/17 are published and show that:

  • Racial crime charges are the most common brought by police, but with a decrease of 10% compared to 2015/16
  • sexual orientation aggravated charges increased by 5% compared to 2015/16.
