As a result, you may see a yellow warning like the following when you try to open any content from potentially unsafe locations.
yellow warning
Protected View opens a file identified as potentially unsafe in read-only mode. We request that you maintain vigilance when browsing untrusted websites and when viewing email attachments from untrusted sources. Once satisfied the content is from a legitimate source, it may be edited by clicking ‘Enable Editing’.
“What is Protected View? “Files from the Internet and from other potentially unsafe locations can contain viruses, worms, or other kinds of malware that can harm your computer. To help protect your computer, files from these potentially unsafe locations are opened as read only or in Protected View. By using Protected View, you can read a file and see its contents and enable editing while reducing the risks.”
