Carbon CLEVER Declaration
What could I do in my organisation?
Install a Biomass boiler
The Aros Experience, Portree, is a signatory for the Carbon CLEVER Declaration and received support from Resources Efficient Scotland.
It has reduced its carbon footprint by 42 tonnes CO2 per year. The centre which includes a restaurant, theatre, gift shop and exhibition area did this by installing a biomass boiler system. Aros has estimated that annual heating costs could be reduced by up to £4,000 with an additional annual income of more than £13,000 from the Renewable Heat Incentive (UK Government incentive scheme which provides funding support for every kilowatt-hour of renewable heat generated for 20 years).
Aros is now looking at options for improving the lighting within the centre to make further carbon and cost savings.
