All Planning and Environment fees are reviewed annually and any changes to fees are, in most cases effective from April each year.

Planning application fees

Building standards fees

The Scottish Government increased statutory building standards fees on the 1 July 2017. Informaton regarding the revised fee structure was issued to Local Authorities on the 29 June 2017.

Details of the changes can be found in the The Building (Miscellaneous Amendments) (Scotland) Regulations 2017 and the 3rd Edition, Version 1.5 of the Procedural Handbook.

You can use the fee calculator on the eBuilding Standards Portal to calculate your application fee, or you may wish to refer to our own fee guidance which also explains how your value of works should be calculated.

All other planning and building standards fees and charges

Fees for major and local pre-application advice will increase on Tuesday 1 August 2017.  From this date a fee will also be introduced for Requests for Variations to planning applications under consideration or after a planning decision has been made.  The fee information below will be updated to reflect the revised fees as of 1 August 2017.

As the fee you will have to pay for Pre-Application Advice for Local Developments is a percentage of the Planning Application Fee, you will need to consult the Scale of Fees for Planning Applications.
