The Gaelic medium primary school sports group, Club Spòrs, based at Bun-Sgoil Ghaidhlig Loch Abar took to the climbing walls at the newly opened Three Wise Monkeys climbing centre in Fort William for an end of term trip. The outing, greatly enjoyed by the active youngsters, was the culmination of the club’s activities throughout the year.

A parent, Ingrid Henderson, said: “Club Spòrs gives the young people the opportunity to use Gaelic in a fun and informal setting, the Club is hugely successful as the children enjoy taking part in the activities whilst also extending and enhancing their language usage.”

The 26 children who took part had a fantastic time trying out the bouldering as well as the roped climbing. Club Spòrs is organised by the Highland Council’s Gaelic Team, and is staffed by three former Gaelic medium pupils.

The Gaelic Team were successful in acquiring funding for Club Spòrs from  Bòrd na Gàidhlig for the third consecutive year.
