Kyle Community projects short-listed for public vote

Following the Kyle Let’s Decide initial bidding process, nine local projects have been short-listed and now have a chance to put their idea to the public vote. There is £10,000 on offer with applications received totalling over £15,000.

The participatory budgeting event will take place in the Lighthouse Centre in Kyle of Lochalsh on Saturday 17 March. Registration will be from 12 midday and the event will start at 1pm sharp and run until around 3pm.

Each applicant will be given a 3 minute slot to make their pitch for funding and a vote will take place at the end of the event to determine which projects are successful. Voting will be open to anyone who is in P4 at school or older, who lives in the Kyle Community Council area and who attends and listens to all of the presentations.

The Vice Convener of Highland Council and Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh Ward Councillor Biz Campbell hopes people take the opportunity to decide how money is spent in their area.  She said: “This is handing decision making to the Community so I encourage all ages, from P4 pupils up to the older members of our community, to come along to listen to the pitches from the short-listed projects then vote for their favourite ideas.”
