Still time to cast your vote in Cairngorms National Park Election

Voters in Wards 1, 2 and 5 of the Cairngorms National Park Election have until 4pm on Thursday, 21 March 2019 to return their postal votes for a community representative to serve their areas on the Cairngorms National Park Authority Board.

The counting of the votes will take place on Thursday 21 March commencing at 5pm for Wards 1 and 2 at the Aviemore Community Centre and the Victoria and Albert Halls, Station Square in Ballater for Ward 5. 

Replacement Lilac Ballot Papers were issued for Ward 3 and must be completed and returned in the pre-paid envelope by 4pm on Thursday 28 March 2019 and the counting of the votes for this ward will now take place on Thursday 28 March at 5pm at the Aviemore Community Centre. 

The candidates with the most votes in each ward will be elected to serve on the board for 4 years.

In Ward 4, no poll will take place, and the uncontested candidate, Eleanor Mackintosh, Tombreckachie Farm, Glenlivet, Ballindalloch AB37 9BX will be declared to be elected to the Cairngorms National Park Authority Board on the day of election (Thursday 21 March 2019) at the Aviemore count.

Voters who wish to return their completed postal ballot paper by hand no later than 4pm on the last day must deliver them as follows:

  •  Wards 1 2 and 3 only to The Highland Council, Kingussie Courthouse Office, 36 High Street, Kingussie PH21 1HR
  • Ward 5 only to the Cairngorm National Park Authority office, Albert Memorial Hall, Station Square, Ballater, AB35 5QB

There is double the number of candidates on the last Cairngorms National Park Election which was held in 2015. Seven candidates are standing in Ward 1; six are contesting Ward 2; nine standing in Ward 9; and a two-way contest in Ward 5.
