Breadth and depth of learning; Duncan Forbes Primary School pupils are delighted on receiving notification from countries around the world following the creation of their global community on Wednesday.

Duncan Forbes Primary School in Culloden successfully created a global community in just 12 hours.

The school imaginatively decided to create a global community to support learning in geography based projects and within just 12 hours of distributing their ‘World Continent’s’ poster on Wednesday (1 May 2019) were delighted to have received messages from Australia, Singapore, Texas, Spain and Bucharest.

Every class is doing a geography based project this term and the aim of creating the global community is to broaden learner’s awareness about the continents.  The poster calls for folk worldwide to send a message to the school by either postcard, twitter, Instagram or via the school blog.

Councillor John Finlayson, Chair of Highland Council’s Care, Learning and Housing committee, said: “I can imagine pupils and teachers alike are very excited about the global response received in such a short space of time and one can’t help but wonder how many more countries will be accounted for in the coming days.  This is such an inspiring whole-school project that underpins innovative, inclusive approaches to learning.”
