Highland Council winter road condition report for Monday, 25 January 2021

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.
Road condition reports for Monday, 25 January 2021 are as follows:
Lochaber
Posted at 08:57. Icy patches on all routes this morning. All priority and secondary routes treated with salt and other routes being treated through the morning.
Skye and Raasay
Posted at 08:40. Sub-zero road surface temperatures. Icy patches following overnight showers. Treatment ongoing on Primary & Secondary Routes.
Ross & Cromarty East.
Posted at 07:33. Light rain through the night which has now frozen and causing very difficult driving conditions. Widespread ice throughout the area. Caution advised until roads are treated.
Caithness
Posted at 08:12. All routes affected with black ice and good sparkle this morning – all routes being treated. Harbour Road, Wick remains still closed after a landslide. The B882 Watten to Georgemas road – which was closed after an artic lorry breakdown – has now re-opend.
Inverness
Posted at 07:03. Wet roads this morning with falling road surface temperatures. All routes and footpaths being treated. No known issues overnight.
Sutherland
Posted at 07:42. Rain and snowfall overnight has frozen leaving treacherous conditions throughout most of the County this morning. Very icy on most routes, all routes being treated in line with policy, but extreme conditions on priority routes is delaying treatment of other routes. Extreme caution is advised.
Nairn
Posted at 08:23. Some snow on high ground – treating all routes as temperatures dropping and some icy patches appearing. No known overnight issues.
Badenoch and Strathspey
Posted at 08:26. Frosty patches and snow showers. Treating all routes. No known overnight issues.
Lochalsh and Ross & Cromarty West
Snow affecting higher routes. Lower level and costal routes clear with some icy patches. No other known overnight issues.
