Highland Council winter road condition report for Tuesday, 2 February 2021

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.
Road condition reports for Tuesday, 2 February 2021 are as follows:
Lochaber
Posted at 08:17. Low road surface temperatures overnight as forecast with light snow showers on some of the higher routes. All Primary and Secondary Routes have been treated. No overnight issues.
Skye and Raasay
Posted at 08:36. Generally dry roads throughout area with no frost. No winter action this morning due to dry roads and high residual salt levels.
Ross & Cromarty East.
Posted at 06:56. Grey frost and patchy ice affecting most roads. All routes being treated.
Caithness
Posted at 07:53. Mix of hard frost and light dusting of snow, treating all routes as necessary, no other issues to report.
Inverness
Posted at 07:26. Main roads black except for ice at any seepage. 1 inch covering of frozen snow on low ground side roads which were not treated yesterday, all high ground side roads treated yesterday but still 1 inch covering of old frozen snow between wheel tracks on some of them. All routes to be treated today.
Sutherland
Posted at 08:16. Primary 1 routes mainly damp roads, primary 2 routes still some hard packed snow in places, and a good frost. All routes being treated as necessary.
Nairn
Posted at 08:01. Widespread frost, some icy patches of hard packed snow. Roads being treated as necessary
Badenoch and Strathspey
Posted at 07:55. Negative road temperatures, widespread frost. Some drifting snow on A939 Bridge of Brown to Grantown road. Roads being treated as necessary
Lochalsh and Ross & Cromarty West
Posted at 06:29. Sub zero overnight road surface temperatures will remain there until around 11:00 on most routes. Treatment plan being delivered. No reported overnight issues. Roads are reported to be in overall good condition. Treatment remains ongoing.
