Highland Council winter road condition report for Monday, 15 February 2021

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.
Road condition reports for Monday, 15 February 2021 are as follows:
Lochalsh and Ross & Cromarty West
Posted at 09:12. High routes being checked and treated generally damp roads with mild temperatures no hazards. No issues reported overnight. Work on-going on Bealach this morning with an aim of reopening as soon as possible. Further updates to follow.
Lochaber
Posted at 08:45. No treatment required on any routes this morning damp roads with high road surface temperatures, some rockfall overnight on the B863.
Skye and Raasay
Posted at 06:47. No planned action this morning. Positive road surface temperatures throughout domain. No issues reported overnight.
Caithness
Posted at 08:59. Main roads fine, side roads have some slush where drifting had been at weekend, cleaning out lay-bys this morning on areas that had drifting on. No issues reported.
Inverness
10:15: Awaiting update on road conditions from operatives within the Inverness area. The news release on Highland Council’s website will be updated once this is available.
Sutherland
Posted at 08:15. Damp and wet roads on all of the routes this morning with icy patches in some areas. A836 Lairg - Tongue and the A837 Ledmore junction - Skiag junction were opened this morning. A897 remains closed to allow the high volume of snow to be cleared.
Nairn
Posted at 08:45. Roads generally damp. Treating high roads (A939 etc) – negative road surface temperatures and a snow melt. No known problems.
Badenoch and Strathspey
Posted at 08:12. Treating primary and secondary roads in North of Area - icy patches. Road surface temperatures rising. A939 Grantown to Bridge of Brown still blocked due to drifting snow. B9007 Carrbridge to Ferness still blocked due to drifting snow. Some minor roads in Nethy Bridge area still blocked due to drifting snow. No other known problems.
Ross and Cromarty East
Posted at 07:34. Route checks took place on Mid Ross higher routes and no issues found just damp and wet roads. East Ross routes, all primary and secondary routes and higher others being checked and treated as necessary. Reports of icy patches on some higher routes with no issues on lower ground. No overnight issues reported.
The UK Met Office does not currently have any weather warnings in place.
