Temporary Road Traffic Regulation Order Ness Walk and Bught Road

Scottish Government ministers have approved Highland Council’s request to extend the Temporary Road Traffic Regulation Order on Ness Walk and Bught Road, which was due to expire at 6am on Sunday 26 December 2021.

This extension will now run until Sunday 26 June 2022. A notice advertising this extension will be published as follows:

 

THE HIGHLAND COUNCIL

The Highland Council made The Highland Council (Coronavirus) (Ness Walk – Bught Road, Inverness) (Temporary One Way Traffic And Cycle Contraflow) Order 2020 under Section 14(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to maintain social distancing and ensure public and road safety while coronavirus restrictions are in place.

The effect of the Order was to introduce temporary one-way traffic restrictions on the U4158 Ness Walk, from its junction with the U3813 Bishops Road to its junction with the U3823 Bught Road, and on Bught Road from its junction with Ness Walk to its junction with the U3821 Bught Avenue.

The Order came into force at 6:00 hours on Friday 26 June 2020 and was due to expire at 6:00 hours on Sunday 26 December 2021.

The Council sought and has received a direction from Scottish Ministers, in accordance with Section 15(3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, that the Order shall continue in force for a further period of six months until Sunday 26 June 2022.

Alternative routes for traffic are available using Bught Avenue, Bught Drive, Glenurquhart Road (forming part of the A82 Dalnottar – Inverness Trunk Road) and Bishops Road.

Permanent Road Traffic Regulation Order Ness Walk and Bught Road

The Highland Council is still proceeding with the statutory process to make a Permanent Road Traffic Regulation Order and is currently collating representations and objections.
