The Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate (ICWCI) held its 16th ‘Building on Quality Awards’ gala dinner and awards presentation at the Castleknock Hotel in Dublin, on Saturday 14th May 2022.

John Crosbie of Grantown-on-Spey received a ‘Highly Commended’ award for his involvement with the Merkinch Primary School and Family Centre in Inverness.

With 15 shortlisted nominees from the UK and Ireland, a team of senior members of the ICWCI visited the project.

Chair of the Judging Panel, Meredith Whilden FICWCI said:

“The quality this season has been exceptional, and I think higher than ever before.

John is a Clerk of works who was fully involved throughout the duration of this very unusual and pioneering project. It is a timber structure with wide ranging benefits: better-value, lower-carbon and a fast-track build, and is a first of its type for the Highland Council.  He fostered good relationships with all parties and his guidance and knowledge helped to achieve a building of exceptional quality within a very tightly constrained site.

He applied himself to this pioneering project with considered and meticulous professionalism. It really is an eye opener and something really special.”

Convener of The Highland Council, Cllr Bill Lobban said: “Congratulations John on this fantastic accolade and achievement awarded upon you from your professional peers. On behalf of The Highland Council, I would like to express our pride in your excellent service and thank you for the quality and professionalism demonstrated by you in your work on receiving this award.”
