Highland Council winter road conditions report for Tuesday, 10 January 2023

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Road condition reports for Tuesday, 10 January 2023 are as follows:

Wester Ross (Ward 5)
Posted 10:30 - Wet roads throughout, with road surface temperatures rising.  No overnight issues.

Skye
Posted 05:42 - Positive road surface temperatures this morning – no winter action required.  No overnight issues.

Nairn
Posted 08:03 - Higher routes treated this morning due to negative temperatures.  Lower routes all with positive temperatures so no action required.  No known overnight issues.

Badenoch and Strathspey
Posted 08:04 - Primary and Secondary routes being treated this morning.  No known overnight issues.

Ross and Cromarty (East)
Posted 06:32 -   Mixture of wet and dry roads this morning.  Positive road surface temperatures.  No issues to report and no action required.

Lochaber
Posted 08:28 - Wet roads with positive road surface temperatures.  No winter maintenance required and no known overnight issues.

Sutherland
Posted 07:57 – Road surface temperatures are marginal in places this morning.  Routes currently being treated as necessary in order of priority.

Caithness

Posted 07:58 – Temperatures are a bit higher than forecast – only Dunbeath area treated this morning as low temperature at 6am, white frosts in sheltered areas reported on this Route.  All other routes are clear with no winter action required.

Inverness
Posted 06:50 – Wet roads this morning with marginal road surface temperatures over the network. Running routes as needed.  No known issues.
